Polish pair joins Americans, Brazilians and Italians in FIVB World Tour Finals men's final four

 
Hamburg, Germany, August 26 - Piotr Kantor and Bartosz Losiak were the last men's team to join the final four at the $800,000 Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals presented by Vodafone here Saturday as the young Polish pair eliminated a team from host Germany in a quarterfinal match at Rothenbaum Stadium.

With their 2-0 (21-14, 21-14) win in 35 minutes over fourth-seeded Markus Bockermann/Lorenz Schuman of Germany, the sixth-seeded Kantor and Losiak join teams from Brazil, Italy and the United States in Sunday's final four rounds where the winning team will share the $100,000 first-place prize.

Other quarterfinal winners Saturday were top-seeded Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena of the United States, second-seeded Evandro Goncalves/Andre Loyola of Brazil and fifth-seeded Daniele Lupo/Paolo Nicolai of Italy.


Kantor and Losiak will play Dalhausser and Lucena in the first semifinal at 10.00 (local time) followed by Lupo and Nicolai challenging the reigning world champions Evandro and Loyola. The medal matches will be played in the afternoon starting at 13.30 with the gold medal match scheduled for 15.00.

Sandwiched in-between the four men's quarterfinal matches Saturday were the women's medal matches as Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst of Germany captured the gold medal to earn their second-straight Swatch FIVB World Tour Finals title.
