Spaniard Amaranta Navarro added to World Championship roster

 
Vienna, Austria, July 26, 2017 - Amaranta Navarro of Spain has been named as a replacement player for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships 2017 presented by A1 as she will play with two-time Olympian Elsa Baquerizo when the event opens play on Friday.

Angela Lobato was scheduled to compete with Baquerizo in the World Championships, but she sprained her left ankle at a mid-July European Tour event in Turkey. Navarro, who will be playing in her first World Championships, has played in the last two FIVB events with Baquerizo as the Spaniards have placed 25th together at World Tour stops in Switzerland and Poland.
 
Baquerizo, who has placed ninth with Liliana Fernandez in the last three World Championships, and Navarro will be competing in Pool B at the 2017 event. The 23rd-seeded Spaniards will play their first match on Saturday against 26th-seeded NORCECA qualifiers Lidiannis Echeverria/Leila Martinez of Cuba.
 
The Spanish team’s final two matches will be on Sunday against the 47th-seeded Galindo sisters (Andrea and Claudia) of Colombia and Tuesday versus second-seeded Chantal Laboureur/Julia Sude of Germany.
