Daegu awaits World Tour return

 
Daegu, Korea, July 12, 2017 – The FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour returns to South Korea with three days of fierce action as Daegu hosts a women-only 1-star tournament from July 14-16. 

It is the eighth World Tour tournament that South Korea has hosted following six women-only events and one double-gender event, and the first time that Korea has hosted a World Tour tournament since 2010.

Teams from 12 nations with be represented in the 16-team draw. Japan’s Miki Ishii and Megumi Murakami are the number one seeds and the pair have previous World Tour experience having played at the Rio de Janeiro 4-Star tournament and the Moscow 3-star tournament this year. 

They are followed in the seedings by two Thailand teams. Varapatsorn Radarong and Tanarattha Udomchavee are seeded second, while Rumpaipruet Numwong and Khanittha Hongpak are ranked third. 

Radarong and Udomchavee are regulars on the World Tour and only last week they competed at the Gstaad Major Series event. 

Korea are also represented by two teams. Ka-Yeon Kim and Hyunji Kim, and Jinhwa Lee and Hye-Suk Yoon.

The tournament will take place by Suseong Lake, which lies in the south-east of the city and is a popular attraction for locals and tourists alike.
