Fort Lauderdale stars set to dazzle after dark

 
Lausanne, Switzerland, January 27, 2017 – The stars of the Fort Lauderdale Major Series will have the chance to light up the Florida night when the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour begins on February 7. 

The tournament runs until February 12 and will now feature 18 matches under floodlights. 

Centre Court will be at the heart of the action and from 17.30 on the floodlights will be turned on to give beach volleyball fans the chance to watch beach volleyball in a way they haven’t done before. 

The first floodlit game will take place on Wednesday February 8, with five pool play matches also set to be played under the centre court lights. 


A further 10 matches will follow including thee of the men’s quarterfinals on the Friday. On the penultimate day, Saturday, two of the women’s quarterfinals will be played under floodlights. 

The London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games featured matches under floodlights, as did the Rome 2011 and Netherlands 2015, FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships. In both cases floodlit matches were resoundingly popular with fans.
