Gallay and Klug not resting on laurels ahead of 2017 World Tour

Lausanne, Switzerland, December 15, 2016 - Despite 2016 having been a bumper season for them, Argentina's beach volleyball stars Ana Gallay and Georgina Klug are not resting on their laurels and are actually looking at improving their game ahead of the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.

After a 37th-place finish at the 2015 FIVB World Championships in The Netherlands, the Argentina pair picked up pace to end that year on a high and rode on the momentum in 2016, three times making it to the semifinals of World Tour events (finishing fourth in the Maceio and Antalya Opens plus the Swatch Majors in Hamburg).

More importantly, though, they qualified to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, where they managed a 19th place.

Looking ahead, they will focus on making that leap from the semifinals onto the podium. "Sometimes we could not improve any more in the semifinal, because we were so tired," said Klug, 32, in her interview.

The 2017 season may just be the springboard for an even brighter future. After all, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games are now just around the corner.
