Social media wrap-up: Historic day for Australia in Shepparton

 
Shepparton, Australia, March 6, 2017 - Super Sunday at the Victoria Park turned out to be a golden moment for Australia as Chris McHugh and Damien Schumann captured the men’s title at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Shepparton 1-Star event.




McHugh/Schumann bested Cole Durant and Zachery Schubert 2-0 (21-18, 21-18) in an all-Australia finale.




Later, the women took to the sand courts for Super Sunday’s remaining matches.




Canada’s Julie Gordon and Camille Saxton received all the love and support from back home.




The Canadian duo grabbed gold by beating Germans Kim Behrens and Anni Schumacher, 2-0 (21-17, 21-14).




The champions took time out to savour victory.




While Germany’s Leonie Körtzinger took home a lot of pride and experience after reaching the semifinals with Sandra Seyfferth.




Olympians lauded a great day for beach volleyball.
