Royal celebrations also mark build-up to 2017 Beach Volleyball World Championships

 
Lausanne, Switzerland, April 27, 2017 - Today's Koningsdag celebrations in the Netherlands - the 50th birthday of King Willem-Alexander - call up memories of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in the Netherlands in 2015, when the country's monarch mixed with fans to cheer on the the top beach volleyball teams in the world.

This year's birthday celebrations in the Netherlands take place just one day after the Dutch also celebrated 50 days to go to the combined FIVB Volleyball World League and FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour event in The Hague when the Dutch city will be the focus of the volleyball and beach volleyball world from June 16 to 19.

But to look back at the climax of the beach volleyball calendar in 2015 is also to be reminded that the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships to be played in Vienna, Austria from July 28 to August 6 are just over three months away.
