Dalhausser and Fendrick spike the Fort Lauderdale sun

Lausanne, Switzerland, February 1, 2017 – Beach volleyball fans have been given a new look at beach volleyball great Phil Dalhausser with just days till the start of the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour. 

The Fort Lauderdale Major Series runs from February 7-12 and to give fans a taste of what to expect sports photographer Dustin Snipes took these stunning shots of 2008 Olympic Champion Phil Dalhausser and fellow Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympian Lauren Fendrick in action for swatchmajorseries.com.

Both players will be in action in Fort Lauderdale - Dalhausser with Nick Lucena and Fendrick alongside new partner Sarah Hughes. The Florida beach holds happy memories for Dalhausser and Lucena, who won silver at the 2015 FIVB World Tour Finals.

“Spiking and serving the sun was challenging and I had to be in total sync with the photographer,” Dalhausser told swatchmajorseries.com. “It’s like the two-man game we play on the beach where teamwork and communication is key.

“It’s a great idea and I can’t remember how many times it took me to perfect the shot – all I know was that there was a lot of jumping involved.

“Adjusting the jump according to the sun’s position was the most difficult part but the end result is all that matters – and the photos look pretty darn cool.”
