Alison and Bruno sound warning to rivals with Super Praia gold

Niteroi, Brazil, April 30, 2017 – Alison Cerutti and Bruno Schmidt showed that they have lost none of their ability to raise themselves for any occasion when they defeated Brazil Tour champions Alvaro Filho and Saymon Santos to win gold at the Super Praia at Icarai beach in Niteroi on Sunday.

The Rio 2016 Olympic champions, 2015 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship winners and the 2016 World Tour Final victors sounded a huge warning to anyone who wants to try to topple them that they will be as competitive as ever when the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour returns at the Rio de Janeiro 4-Star event that runs from May 16-21.

The pair won their fourth Super Praia title with a 2-0 (21-19, 22-20) victory over Alvaro and Saymon in a match that last 47 minutes. Evandro Goncalves and Andre Stein won bronze when they defeated Thiago Barbosa and George Wanderley 2-1 (17-21, 21-16, 15-10).

“All this is a consequence of our hard work,” Bruno said. “Even if we didn’t win the title our performances in the tournament was we what we wanted as we were warriors from start to finish.

“It is a unique time for my career because I achieved all my dreams and now I have to find a way to reinvent myself. But when Alison is by my side I cannot lose focus.”

The Brazil Beach Volleyball Tour began in September 2016 and ended in Vitoria in early April. The tour also went through Campo Grande, Brasília, Uberlandia, Curitiba, Sao Jose, Joao Pessoa, Maceio and Aracaju.
