Brazilians Evandro/Andre and Larissa/Talita claim Team of the Year honours

 
Lausanne, Switzerland, September 4, 2017 – World ranking leaders Evandro Gonçalves/Andre Loyola and Larissa Franca/Talita Antunes of Brazil were confirmed as the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball Teams of the Year after the Swatch Beach Volleyball World Tour Finals presented by Vodafone wrapped up the season on August 27.

Finishing second at the World Tour Finals in Hamburg, recently crowned world champions Evandro and Andre led the 2017 FIVB World Ranking with 4,180 points. They were followed by Italians Paolo Nicolai/Daniele Lupo on 3,920 points and by Russians Viacheslav Krasilnikov/Nikita Liamin on 3,900 points.

Evandro and Andre defeated Austrian favourites Clemens Doppler and Alexander Horst to claim the gold medals at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships Vienna 2017 presented by A1. The Brazilian pair finished second to Phil Dalhausser and Nick Lucena of the United States at the Swatch FIVB World Tour Finals.

In the women’s competition, Larissa/Talita topped the 2017 FIVB World Ranking with 5,560 points. Canada's Sarah Pavan/Melissa Humana-Paredes were second with 4,480 points and Germany's Julia Sude/Chantal Laboureur were third with 4,240 points.


Larissa and Talita were bronze medallists at the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships

Larissa and Talita won bronze at the World Championships in Vienna in August after defeating Pavan/Humana-Paredes in the match for third place. They were also bronze medallists at the recently completed World Tour Finals in Hamburg, where they finished behind Laura Ludwig/Kira Walkenhorst of Germany and compatriots Agatha Bednarczuk/Eduarda "Duda" Lisboa.

The FIVB World Rankings are based on teams’ eight best results at all FIVB recognized events over the last 365 days.

The Swatch FIVB World Tour Finals in Hamburg brought the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour to a close. The 2017 portion of the next season of World Tour beach volleyball is set to begin with a men’s-only event in Montpellier from September 7 to 9.
