About the Media Guide
Produced by the FIVB Communications Department, the Media Guide is a factual resource tool for members of the media, providing comprehensive data on international beach volleyball events.

Looking ahead to the 2017 season
Fort Lauderdale, USA will kick off the 2017 beach volleyball season, which will see players compete for $6.35 million in prize money.

This season introduces the FIVB’s new five-star structure for the FIVB World Tour from 2017 and onwards, which will see all events on the tour assigned a star rating between one and five. Five and four star will be the highest level elite events while three, two and one star events are designed to develop the sport in as many regions of the world as possible.

Highlighted by the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, this year’s FIVB World Tour will once again feature the Swatch Major Series (all five star events) and the five-star event in Rome, as well as the Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals.
