Brazil in VNL starting blocks

 
Lausanne, Switzerland, April 26, 2018 - Brazil coach Jose Roberto Guimaraes underlined the importance of a strong start in this year's inaugural edition of the FIVB Volleyball Nations League when he confirmed the names of eight more players joining his squad for 2018 on Tuesday.

"The Volleyball Nations League gives us an opportunity to play against the best teams in the world,"  he said. Brazil will begin their campaign in Barueri from May 15 to 17 where they will take on Serbia, Germany and Japan. "We have to take advantage of the first week of the Volleyball Nations League that we will play in Barueri to play our best against three of the top teams in the world."



In weeks 2 to 5 of the competition's preliminary round, Brazil will travel to Turkey, the Netherlands, China and Italy playing to qualify for the finals in Nanjing, China from June 27 to July 1.

Later this year, Brazil will also participate in the Pan American Cup from July 6 to 15 and the Montreux Volley Masters from September 4 to 9. The international season will reach its climax at the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship in Japan from September 29 to October 20, where Brazil will begin their campaign in Pool D in Hamamatsu with Serbia, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Kazakhstan and Kenya. The South American side will aim to win the World Championship for the first time after claiming bronze in 2014 and silver in 2010, 2006 and 1994.
