Hamburg, Germany, August 25, 2017 - Barbora Hermannova and Marketa Slukova of the Czech Republic advanced to the women's quarter-finals at the US$800,000 SWATCH FIVB World Tour Finals here Friday morning by eliminating Summer Ross and Brooke Sweat of the United States.
Seeded sixth in the third annual event, Hermannova and Slukova posted a 2-1 (21-18, 13-21, 15-9) win in 41 minutes to advance to the next round of the competition where the Czech pair will challenge fourth-seeded Agatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda "Duda" Lisboa of Brazil.
With "Summer Sweat" placing ninth and sharing $15,000 in earnings at the third annual event, Hermannova and Slukova will play the Brazilians at 4 p.m. (local time) Friday with the winners of that match advancing to the evening's women's semi-finals.
