Humana-Paredes: “The match changed when we woke up”

Melissa Humana-Paredes, Canada – “The match changed when we woke up. In the first set it took us a little bit too long to wake up. Once we realized that the game was on the line we turned things around and we started playing kind of our style. We took what we needed to and we made it work. We need to keep this consistency since every team is amazing here”.

Sarah Pavan, Canada – “I think that when we went on that big five-point run at the end of the first set, that really changed the momentum. We kept the pressure on and we kept that feeling going for the rest of the match. And you could see they backed off a little bit and they weren’t being as aggressive, so that little chunk of points late in the first set really changed things for us”.

Heather Bansley, Canada – “I think it was just really our side of the court. We were not as consistent on our side out going into the second set. We had moments where we recovered it but we he had some chances on defense where we didn’t capitalize on transition. That hurt us as well. We need to focus on our side of the court going forward”.

Brandie Wilkerson, Canada – “For us, it’s definitely about improving on these inconsistencies we had on this game. It’s in our control, so as long as we keep focusing on each play and on our side out, our transition, in every part of the game, just keeping it solid, I think we’ll be happy about our performance”.
