Kristyna Kolocova and Michala Kvapilova of the Czech Republic won their opening match in the US$800,000 SWATCH FIVB World Tour Finals here Thursday with a two-set victory over Joana Heidrich and Anouk Vergé-Dépré of Switzerland.
Seeded eighth in Pool A, Kolocova and Kvapilova overcame first set jitters to post a 2-0 (22-20, 21-10) win in 37 minutes over the ninth-seeded Heidrich and Vergé-Dépré. The match was the second for the Swiss pair, who upset top-seeded Chantal Laboureur and Julia Sude Wednesday.
Kolocova and Kvapilova, who have a 2-0 FIVB World Tour mark against Heidrich and Vergé-Dépré, can win Pool A by defeating Laboureur and Sude in a 6 p.m. (local time) match against the Germans on the center court at Rothenbaum Stadium.
