Laboureur: “It’s a great turnaround”

Chantal Laboureur, Germany – “It’s a great turnaround. We didn’t expect to have such a huge win in the first set and that helped us a lot. We knew we had to beat them by a lot of points to win the pool. We did the same in Long Beach this year against the Canadians, so maybe we just needed this pressure. It has a big value to be first in the pool because you avoid an extra match against one of the great teams that are competing here”.

Julia Sude, Germany – “We tried not to think too much and did everything by nature and it worked. Kristyna is a very good defender and playing against her requires a lot of patience. We were a little bit frustrated when they won the second set and tied the game, but we started the third set well and that gave us more confidence to win the game”.

Kristyna Kolocova, Czech Republic – “We lost the match to ourselves. We didn’t do anything in the first set and that took us down. It was hard to find our rhythm. We won the second set, but actually didn’t play well in the third. It was our first game on center court and maybe we struggled because of it a little bit because of its size, but we have to get used to it, this cannot be an excuse”.

Michala Kvapilova, Czech Republic – “The Germans served better now than when we beat them last weekend and we didn’t do anything in the first set. Our serve was not as good as well. After these two games, we know that anything is possible. We lost badly in the first set but actually had an opportunity to win the game after that”.
