Pavan: “We’re forcing teams to change their games”

Sarah Pavan, Canada – “We’re forcing teams to change their games a little bit when they play us. The Czechs are a great team and it’s always a battle against them. We’ve came out on top every time but we never take the game lightly because it can change like that”.

Melissa Humana-Paredes, Canada – “It’s taking us a little bit to get into the rhythm of the game. We’re not adjusting quickly enough, we recognize now and in the next game it won’t happen. We got to give them credit though because they were serving really aggressively. We should have adjusted a little bit faster”.

Marketa Slukova, Czech Republic – “I think we’ve played much better now compared to our first match. We’ve played Melissa and Sarah so many times and it’s always tough. We executed our game better in the first set but me made some bad plays on the second and that gave them a good advantage. We tried to refocus for the third set but we made some mistakes in the end and that was the difference. I’m glad we just improved from the morning. This is a good step.

Barbora Hermannova, Czech Republic – “We should take the positives from our two matches and learn from our mistakes. There was a big difference from the first game to the second, especially regarding our spirits and our creativity on the court. We need to be braver against these teams. We cannot be cowards, we need to push ourselves to the best we can”.
