Hamburg, Germany, August 25, 2017 - After losing twice in pool play, Talita Antunes and Larissa Franca of Brazil regained their winning ways here Friday morning by eliminating Heather Bansley and Brandie Wilkerson of Canada from the US$800,000 SWATCH FIVB World Tour Finals.
Seeded second in the Rothenbaum Stadium competition, Talita and Larissa posted a 2-0 (27-25, 21-16) win in 39 minutes over the 11th-seeded Bansley and Wilkerson. It was the first-ever FIVB World Tour meeting between the two teams.
With Bansley and Wilkerson placing ninth and sharing $15,000 in earnings at the third annual event, Talita and Larissa will play top-seeded Chantal Laboureur/Julia Sude of Germany at 5 p.m. (local time) Friday with the winners of that match advancing to the evening's women's semi-finals.
