China’s Wang & Yue headline in Jiangning, Nanjing

 
 Jiangning, Nanjing, China, June 15, 2017 - China’s Fan Wang and Yuan Yue enter their third FIVB World Tour event of the year in top position at the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Silk Road Tangshan Open from 16 - 18 June.

The two-star single gender women’s event arrives in Jiangning, Nanjing for the first time and the world class Tangshan venue will also hold the FIVB Beach Volleyball U21 World Championships from 11 – 16 July 2017.

Wang/Yue are the local favourites in Jiangning, Nanjing with all three of the pair’s FIVB medals won on home sands; silver in Shanghai and Xiamen in 2014 and another Xiamen Open silver in 2017. The pair are likely to stand out among their competitors as they focus on taking gold in Jiangning, Nanjing.



Challengers come in the form of USA’s Emily Stockman and Kimberly Dicello who took their first team win earlier in the year at the Langkawi one-star event in Malaysia. They also reached the quarterfinals of the Sydney two-star event in March and will hope to continue their momentum in Jiangning, Nanjing.



Stockman/Dicello are joined by two more USA teams in Tangshan, Flint/Larsen and Dowdy/Pollock.

Vanuatu’s Loti Joe and Linline Matauatu compete in their second two-star event of the year after finishing outside the quarterfinals in Sydney. It is their second visit to China for the 2017 season after ending in 17th place at the 2017 Xiamen Open three-star event.



Thailand is represented by two experienced teams in Tangshan, both entering their first FIVB World Tour event of the year with Varapatsorn Radarong and Tanarattha Udomchavee and Rumpaipruet Numwong and Khanittha Hongpak.

Alongside Wang/Yue, China fields an additional seven teams led by Xinxin Wang and veteran Chen Xue.

The 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour Silk Road Tangshan Open marks the beginning of the Silk Road Tour which includes women’s FIVB Nantong two-star event from June 23 – 25.
