World Championship schedule updates

 
Vienna, Austria, July 20, 2017 - The 2017 edition of the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships is set to take place on Danube Island in Vienna, Austria from July 28 to August 6, featuring the top 96 men's and women's teams in the world. Pool play will begin at 10.00 local time on Friday, July 28 with matches culminating in the women's finals on Saturday, August 5 and the men's finals on Sunday, August 6.

In revisions to the calendar previously announced, centre court will feature the match between USA's Phil Dalhausser/Nick Lucena and compatriots Ryan Doherty/John Hyden at 18.00 local time on Saturday, July 29. That match will be followed by Swiss pair Joana Heidrich/Anouk Vergé-Dépré against Elize Maia/Taiana Lima of Brazil also on centre court. Brazil's Maria Antonelli/Carolina Solberg will play Canada's Taylor Pischke/Jamie Broder on court 2 at 10.00.

On the following day, April Ross/Lauren Fendrick of the United States will play Nicole Laird/Jessyka Ngauamo of Australia at 17.00 on centre court. Brazil's Evandro Gonçalves/Andre Loyola will take on Cubans Daisel Quesada/Karell Piña at 15.00 on court 3.

On Monday, Brazil's Maria Antonelli/Carolina Solberg will play Sara Hughes/Kelly Claes of the United States at 13.00 on centre court. Italy's Marta Menegatti/Rebecca Perry will play Manon Flier/Marleen van Iersel of the Netherlands on court 2 at 16.00.

Finally, on Tuesday, Kerri Walsh Jennings/Nicole Branagh of the United States will take on Teresa Strauss/Katharina Holzer of Austria at 11.30 centre court. The Pool E match between Kazakhstan pair Tatyana Mashkova/Bakhtygul Samalikova and Austria's Cornelia Rimser/Lena Plesiutschnig will take place on court 2 at 11.30 and USA's Summer Ross/Brooke Sweat will play the Ukraine's Valentyna Davidova/Ievgeniia Shchypkova at 12.30 on court 3.

The Beach Volleyball World Championships in Vienna will feature teams from 40 countries playing a total of 216 matches.

Quick links - Beach volleyball:
During the first four days of competition (July 28-31), matches will begin at 10.00 local time on the two side courts with action on the main stadium court starting at 12.00. Competition on Days 5 and 6 (August 1-2) will begin at 9.30 on the side courts and 11.30 in the main stadium.
