The newly formed team’s early accomplishment is an indication of great chemistry and a positive outlook in their quest for more titles.
“I like playing with Conny (Rimser),” Pletsiutschnig said. “She is extremely focused and motivated.”
Both Austrians are driven to achieve bigger things and their motivation is the opportunity to take to the stage at the FIVB Beach Volleyball Women’s World Championship in Vienna from July 28 to August 6.
“I pass the island every day when I am driving to practice imagining how the new stadium will look like,” Plesiutschnig said. “Every day it is a motivation for me. I wouldn’t mind if they could start construction now.”
As the hometown girl, Rimser knows the location very well, sometimes visiting Danube Island for recreational activities.
“As I am originally from Vienna, there couldn’t be anything bigger for me than to have the World Championships in my home city,” Rimser raves.
“That will be the absolute highlight of our season,” Pletsiutschnig added.
Rimser/Plesiutschnig are aiming for a much bigger stage at the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships in their home turf in Vienna, Austria
Pletsiutschnig had a shoulder injury in the 2013 season and as a result, she could not play in many tournaments and resorted to watching her former partner Katharina Schutzenhofer play with Barbara Hansel in Poland.
Two years later, she also watched from a distance when the World Championships were held in the Netherlands. Now, she cannot wait to be part of the action herself at Vienna 2017.
“I was watching the live streams all the time,” Pletsiutschnig said. “It’s an absolute incentive and we want to represent our country the best way possible.”
Rimser/Pletsiutschnig want to gain as much competition experience as possible when they play at the World Tour events in Moscow, Gstaad, Baden and Porec after also participating in the Rio de Janeiro World Tour event last week.
