Lausanne, Switzerland, October 26, 2017 - The United States have two teams in the women's quarterfinals of the one-star FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tout Aalsmeer Open in the Netherlands after Betsi Flint / Kelley Larsen and Emily Stockman / Kimberly Dicello scored decisive wins in Round I of the Main Draw, Thursday evening.
Flint and Larsen disposed of France's Alexandra Jupiter / Ophelie Lusson in straight sets 2-0 (21-19, 21-19), but Stockman and Dicello had to fight back from a set down to overcome the home side of Annemieke Driessen / Ilke Meertens 2-1 (14-21, 21-17, 16-14).
USA are assured a team in the medals rounds as the two American sides go head-to-head in Saturday's quarterfinals.
Indeed, the Netherlands remained with only one team in the top eigth, following the defeat of Emi Van Driel / Raisa Schoon in the hands of qualifiers from France Alexia Richard / Margaux Carrere 2-1 (21-23, 21-18, 15-8).
The Netherlands were assured of a place in the quarterfinals with an all-Dutch clash to wrap up Round I, in which Joy Stubbe / Madelein Meppelink shut out Marleen Van Iersel / Julia Wouters 2-0 (21-17, 21-11).
Also through to the top eight are Spain's Paula Soria / Amaranta Fernandez, Japan's Miki Ishii / Megumi Murakami, Germany's Kim Behrens / Sandra Ittlinger and Romania's Adriana-Maria Matei / Beata Vaida.

The women's tournament in Aalsmeer continues Saturday, with Friday devoted to the men's Round I.
