With only one FIVB World Tour event together, Brunner and Lucena are seeded 15th in the World Championships. The Americans played in one FIVB World Tour stop last season with a fifth in the season finale in Mangaung, South Africa. Brunner played most of last season with Todd Rogers as the pair collected a bronze medal at the 2014 Long Beach stop. Lucena played mostly in 2014 with Ryan Doherty with a second (Berlin) and third (Gstaad) together. While Brunner has never played in the World Championships, Lucena has placed 17th (Brad Keenan 2009 Stavanger), fifth (Matt Fuerbringer 2011 Rome) and 33rd (John Hyden 2013 Stare Jablonki).
