Lausanne, Switzerland, March 16, 2017 – Rankings leaders Alvaro Filho and Saymon Santos will be out to clinch the Brazil Beach Volleyball Tour title when the Aracaju tournament takes place from March 17-19 on Atalaia Beach.
The pair won the most recent tournament in Maceio and currently top the rankings with 2,600 points ahead of Olympic champions Alison Cerutti and Bruno Schmidt who are second with 1,880 points. It means that even if they are eliminated at the group stage the 160 points on offer would mean they claim the title.
Alvaro Filho and Saymon have already won three of the seven Tour golds and also claimed three silver and one bronze from the other stops. They also topped the podium at the Fort Lauderdale Major Series in February which marked the start of the 2017 FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.
Larissa Franca and Talita Antunes sewed up the women’s title in Maceio and like Alvaro and Saymon won gold in Fort Lauderdale to signal that they will be as competitive as ever in 2017.
They will be in Aracaju and will be chasing a fifth gold on the Brazil Tour after their victory in Maceio.
They have also won one silver and victory in Maceio gave them an unsurpassable total of 2,240 points in the rankings.
Aracaju is the eighth stop on the Brazil Tour and comes after tournaments in Campo Grande, Brasília, Uberlandia, Curitiba, Sao Jose, Joao Pessoa and Maceio. The next stop is in Vitoria from April 7-9.
