Beach stars build buzz ahead of Fort Lauderdale Major

Lausanne, Switzerland, January 16, 2017 – A look at social media shows just how much the top male and female beach volleyball players are looking forward to the first FIVB World Tour Event of 2017, the Swatch Major Series in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from February 7 to 12.

After the long holiday break, the players are all eager to get back on the beach volleyball court. The ‘Lion King’ Aleksandrs Samoilovs is roaring with excitement for the Fort Lauderdale Major.

The players’ first order is to hit the beach and the gym to train. Rio 2016 gold medallists Alison Cerutti and Bruno Oscar Schmidt are in their element and back in training.

With less than a month to go before the Fort Lauderdale Major unfolds, Jake Gibb and Taylor Crabb want to start the new season right.

The new season highlights new partnerships. World champion Agatha Bednarczuk was one of the fiercest competitors in 2016. This year, Agatha will team-up with Brazil’s promising young star Eduarda “Duda” Lisboa.

Canadians Taylor Pischke and Heather Bansley also have new partners and they are looking forward to the first event of the World Tour. Pischke will play the new season with Kristina Valjas, while Bansley sees a bright new beginning with Brandi Wilkerson.

But it’s not only about new partnerships, it’s also about the resilient bond on the beach court of pairs like Ana Gallay and Georgina Klug, who are ready to take on another challenging season.

While most players are out training on the beach, April Ross kept it fun with a volleyball game with her friends. Watch below.
