Final fours set at the FIVB Moscow Grand Slam

Moscow, Russia, August 24, 2013 – The final fours
of the sixth edition of the FIVB Beach Volleyball Moscow Grand Slam, which were
determined on Saturday at Vodny Stadium, include some unexpected candidates.

In the women’s competition Italy’s new team Marta
Menegatti and Viktoria Orsi Toth made it to the semifinals in only their second
event together. And in the men’s Austria’s newcomer Lorenz Petutschnig amazed
his veteran partner Alexander Horst.

Russia lost all hope of finally winning a medal at
their own Moscow event. All remaining home teams were knocked out on the
penultimate day. World Tour leaders Pedro Solberg and Bruno Oscar Schmidt and
Taiana Lima and Talita Antunes were also eliminated.

Menegatti and Orsi Toth play Germany’s Laura
Ludwig, while the Salgado-sisters from Brazil take on Spain’s Liliana Fernandez
Steiner and Elsa Baquerizo.

Horst and Petutschnig are lined up with Brazil’s
Emanuel Rego and Evandro Goncalves and Latvia’s Janis Smedins and Aleksandrs
Samoilovs play Ricardo Santos and Alvaro Morais Filho from Brazil.
