Plotnytskyi keeps Perugia in lead of Italian League

 
Ukraine's Oleh Plotnytskyi was named MVP as he scored 17 points to push Sir Safety Conad Perugia to their fifth win in as many matches and keep the side top of the standings on full points after midweek action in the Italian Men's League, Wednesday.The 23-year-old outside hitter, who served four aces in Perugia's 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-20) shutout of Top Volley Cisterna, was matched in scoring by Cuba-born teammate Wilfredo Leon of Poland.Defending champions Cucine Lube Civitanova remained within reach of the leaders, also undefeated after five matches but a point shy of the top, after Luxembourg's Kamil Rychlicki scored 19 points to lead them to a 3-1 (31-29, 25-21, 20-25, 25-23) win on the road over Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza.But Allianz Milan dropped another point in their 3-2 (25-22, 30-32, 24-26, 25-22, 15-12) dramatic win at home over Consar Ravenna - though they do remain in third place on an impressive 4-1 record.France's Jean Patry led Milan with 25 points and Canada's Stephen Maar added another 23.
