Lucerne, Switzerland, May 18, 2016 - Two North American rivals lit up the recent FIVB U21 Beach Volleyball World Championships when they played out a 58-touch, one minute, seven seconds rally.
USA’s Sarah Sponcil and Torrey Van Winden were facing Canadian twins Megan and Nicole McNamara in the bronze medal match with the USA pair leading 7-6.
The rally began when Megan McNamara served and ended over 60 seconds later when Van Winden’s spike proved too powerful. It took the USA duo’s lead to 8-6 en route to winning the first set.
The Canadians had the last laugh though as they won the bronze medal with a 2-1 (18-21, 23-21, 15-10) victory.
