Lausanne, Switzerland, April 28, 2017 – Taiana Lima and Elize Maia were one of four teams to book their place in the Super Praia quarterfinals with two wins from two of the opening day of the tournament on Thursday.
Icarai beach in Niteroi is the venue for the Super Praia, the final act of the Brazil Beach Volleyball Tour, which runs from Thursday April 27 to Sunday April 30.
Taiana and Elize Maia are joined in the last eight by Brazil Tour winners Larissa Franca and Talita Antunes, Agatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda Lisboa Santos, and Ana Patricia and Rebecca Silva, who also enjoyed two victories.
“In the first game we did everything we had planned,” Taiana said. “In the second game we faced a more experienced pair and we knew we had the clarity and the calmness to win.
“Here we can measure how much we are prepared and what we need to improve. It is a preparation for the (Austria 2017) FIVB World Championships and because we have so many strong teams in this tournament, we have to go one step at a time.”
The Brazil Beach Volleyball Tour began in September 2016 and ended in Vitoria in early April. The tour also went through Campo Grande, Brasília, Uberlandia, Curitiba, Sao Jose, Joao Pessoa, Maceio and Aracaju.
