Talita & Larissa silence home crowd with quarterfinal win

 
Hamburg, Germany, August 25, 2017 - Talita Antunes and Larissa Franca of Brazil rebounded from a pair of pool play setbacks to win two matches here Friday over pairs from Canada and Germany to advance to the semifinals at the $800,000 Swatch Beach Volleyball FIVB World Tour Finals presented by Vodafone.

Seeded second in the 12-team event, Talita and Larissa gained a spot in their third-straight Swatch FIVB World Tour Finals final four with a 2-0 (21-17, 21-10) win in 32 minutes over top-seeded Chantal Laboureur and Julia Sude of Germany. Earlier Friday, the Brazilians eliminated 11th-seeded Heather Bansley and Brandie Wilkerson 2-0 (27-25, 21-16) in 39 minutes.

While Laboureur and Sude split $20,000 for finishing fifth in the World Tour Finals, Talita and Larissa will be seeking the $100,000 first-place prize.  Talita and Larissa will play compatriots Agatha Bednarczuk and Eduarda "Duda" Lisboa in the second semifinal Saturday 9 p.m. (local time).
