The Iron Hammer - A documentary on Lang Ping’s success story

 
Lausanne, Switzerland, May 29, 2020 – Look out for The Iron Hammer, a documentary about Lang Ping’s amazing success story in volleyball.

“Jenny” Lang Ping is not only a true international sporting legend, but also a cultural icon in her native China. Her remarkable journey and inspiring life are depicted in The Iron Hammer by director Joan Chen and presented by the Olympic Channel. The documentary, a 99-minute film will be on the Olympic Channel later in 2020.


Lang Ping is the first person in volleyball to win Olympic titles both as a player (1984) and as a coach (2016). Known by the nickname The Iron Hammer for her thunderous spikes, she also won gold at the FIVB Volleyball World Championship in 1982 and at the FIVB Volleyball World Cup back to back in 1981 and 1985 as the leading striker of the Chinese national team. Lang Ping claimed the MVP awards at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympic Games, the 1982 World Championship and the 1985 World Cup.

As a coach, she led China to the Olympic top at Rio 2016, as well as back-to-back World Cup titles in 2015 and 2019. Lang Ping was named FIVB Coach of the Year in 1996.

The Iron Hammer is set to extend the enjoyment from this week’s full match replays of the highlights of China's victorious run at the 2015 World Cup, shown on the Volleyball World YouTube channel.
